“Brandy was a very communitive and excellent host! The home had everything we needed, and although the weather wasn’t great while we were there, the pool and hot tub was a blessing for the kids and adults.”

“The house is perfect for a family gathering. The pool and spa were very inviting, especially for young kids… it was also very nice having all the beach accessories so we didn’t have to rent any equipment. The host was very responsive and helpful.”

Beaches & scenery
Hanalei Bay is the North Shore's signature beach -- a two-mile crescent backed by mountains, generally calm for swimming outside winter surf season. Anini Beach has one of Kauai's longest reef-protected lagoons, making it a popular pick for families with young kids. Hideaways Beach is a smaller, quieter cove reached by a short trail from Princeville, popular with snorkelers on calm days. Kīlauea Point's historic lighthouse is one of the best spots on the island to see nesting seabirds -- and, from November through April, migrating humpback whales just offshore.

Princeville Center, just minutes from the house, is the closest spot for groceries and a quick bite, with Foodland as the main supermarket for stocking the kitchen. Hanalei town, about ten minutes further, has the North Shore's best concentration of restaurants, from food trucks to sit-down dinners. The Hanalei farmers market is worth timing a visit around for local produce. Hanalei Town Center has also started hosting Lā HanaLei, a new annual lei-making and Hawaiian culture festival each May -- worth checking if your visit lines up.

Princeville Makai Golf Course is an oceanside course right in Princeville. Hanalei Bay is the easiest place on the North Shore to book a surf lesson, with several local instructors working right off the beach. Kayak tours run up the calm, mountain-backed Hanalei River -- a good option for a mixed-age group. Nā Pali Coast boat tours are the most dramatic way to see Kauai's famous coastline, typically departing from Hanalei in summer when the water's calmer. Princeville Makai Golf Club also hosts a free weekly Makai Music & Art Festival (Wednesdays, 1–5pm) with live music and local vendors. Visiting between November and April? That's peak season for Hanalei Bay's famous winter surf.

The drive from Līhuʻe Airport to Princeville takes about an hour along Kauai's single coastal highway -- worth building into arrival-day plans, especially with a late flight. Princeville Center covers gas and everyday essentials nearby. For anything beyond routine care, the island's main hospital is in Līhuʻe. North Shore weather changes quickly, so it's worth checking the forecast the morning of any beach or hiking day rather than the night before.
